Roger Dooley. “Brainfluence: 100 Ways to Persuade and Convince Consumers with Neuromarketing”
A book that can rightly be called a neuromarketing classic. Did you know that 95% of a person’s emotions and thoughts show up before they become consciously aware of them? But this feature of the brain is often ignored by marketers – in practice, virtually all of their efforts are directed at rational selling, rather than unconscious selling.
In his work, Roger Dooley presents the results of the latest scientific research on thinking and explains how to apply it for marketing purposes. Purchase decisions always take place in the realm of our subconscious. If you study these patterns, you can not only sell more with less effort, but also easily get ahead of all your competitors.
The book’s main highlight is its abundance of practical examples and insights, along with real scientific studies that open each new chapter.

Stephen J. Genco, Andrew P. Pohlmann, Peter Steidl. “Neuromarketing For Dummies”
“Neuromarketing For Dummies” is, unfortunately, currently only available in English. However, if that’s not a problem for you, we recommend this book as one of the best works for beginner marketers.
It’s a genuine encyclopedia that lays out the fundamentals of neuromarketing in a systematic way. The authors describe methods for studying consumer behavior and methodically cover every field in which neuromarketing can be applied: from brand creation to analyzing video games, and much more.
The book is well structured and will suit both marketing students and anyone who wants to put their knowledge of neuromarketing in order.
Tip from NEURO-KNOWLEDGE: if you’d like to read another classic of neuromarketing, we recommend Robert Cialdini’s bestseller “Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion” – the book is available in Russian and Ukrainian.
Martin Lindstrom. “Buyology: Truth and Lies About Why We Buy”
The well-known marketer Martin Lindstrom didn’t write this book for his colleagues, but for a broad readership, in order to “open their eyes” to sellers’ tricks and manipulations.
But despite this, the work is written in a very engaging way and will be useful for beginner neuromarketers too. While the author tells his target audience how to protect themselves from advertising’s influence, you can learn about important methods of influencing consumers’ subconscious.
This “chameleon” of a book has plenty of interesting things to tell both buyers and marketers about traditional and innovative approaches to selling, as well as about successful and failed cases from well-known brands.
Tip from NEURO-KNOWLEDGE: Martin Lindstrom’s books are a genuine treasure trove of marketing case studies: his “Brandwashed” is worth reading for anyone who enjoys an easy writing style and wants to learn more about new advertising tools.
Douglas Van Praet. “Unconscious Branding: How Neuroscience Can Empower (and Inspire) Marketing”
Why isn’t your large-scale advertising campaign working? How can you test an ad’s effectiveness before launching sales? Modern neuroscience research can help you figure it out.
Well-known behavioral psychology specialist Douglas Van Praet has gathered the most innovative methods of influencing decision-making in his work. The book explains in detail how the capabilities of the subconscious can be used for effective marketing.
Van Praet offers 7 effective steps for changing buyer behavior and cites real, modern advertising campaigns as examples.
Tip from NEURO-KNOWLEDGE: if you want to dig even deeper into research on brain function and its influence on sales, we recommend reading the work of one of the “founding fathers” of neuromarketing, David Lewis, “The Brain Sell: When Science Meets Shopping” (2015).
Nir Eyal. “Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products”
A genuine bestseller by the American entrepreneur and Forbes journalist.
The book reveals the secrets of creating a successful product.
How can a company build a lasting habit in a buyer and create a product that satisfies the consumer 100%? How do you design packaging that won’t go unnoticed? In this book, you’ll find answers to these and many other questions of behavioral psychology. You’ll also learn how to build an effective hook in just 4 stages, one that will build loyalty to a product without expensive advertising campaigns.
Tip from NEURO-KNOWLEDGE: in a similar style, we recommend reading Phil Barden’s “Decoded: The Science Behind Why We Buy”.
